Some of you are wondering how exactly it works with a permanent Weyrleader. I could have sworn I wrote this already, but I guess not. Or I just misplaced the post.
Because the metallic greens are clutching females that Impress regardless of gender or sexual preferrence, the Weyrleader has become a permanent position in some instances.
Yes, the goldriders are still Weyrwomen and/or Jr. Weyrwomen. Yes, the bronzerider whose dragon wins the gold flight is still the Weyrleader. No, he may not be the Sr. Weyrleader.
When a metallic green is Hatched and Impresses a male Candidate, that Candidate is immediately elevated to the position of Weyrleader. Unlike the bronzeriders, who only become Weyrleader if their dragon wins the gold flight, the male metallic greenrider will always be Weyrleader.
Well, here at Nurien Weyr we have a goldriding Sr. Weyrwoman. Jullianya also has a Jr Weyrwoman, riding a metallic green - Ylana. This is normal. They will be Weyrwomen until they die. Normal enough.
Then it gets complicated. Metallic green Uskath Impressed J'kahn. This made J'kahn the Weyrleader. When Jullianya's Ferth flew, she was caught by bronze Imoth, ridden by B'net. Because J'kahn is Weyrleader, this bumped B'net down a notch to the position of Jr. Weyrleader.
But, what happens when Obeth flies? Will there be three Weyrleaders?
No. When Obeth flies the winner of that flight will become the Jr. Weyrleader. If that winner is not Imoth and B'net, then B'net will be relegated back to just a bronzerider.
Ah... but what happens when Uskath flies? Then the Jr Weyrleader will change again. If the flights come close together, then the Jr Weyrleader will rotate quickly.
Instead of the Weyrleader being an exclusive position gained only when ones' bronze dragon flies the senior queen, it is a position exclusive to the male rider of a metallic green. In the instance where there is no male metallic rider, then the position falls back to the usual rotational position of a bronzerider whos dragon wins the flight of the senior queen.
So...
Any questions? Feel free to ask them here and I will explain it to the best of my ability. I know this is kind of confusing...
