It's not a pet peeve....
Many folks cannot read bright colors. It's hard to read, takes time to highlight and then read what's said. Lighter colors hard to read, as it's make it so hard to see what's been type.
I cannot vouched for everyone, but bright colors does make my eyes hurt.
I'm not going to sound mean, but if eyes hurt (and due to fact of my now existing medical condition) that I will change it to ugly colors.
So PLEASE do not use bright colors, colors hard to read. There is a preview to use, USE IT! I may start warning those with obsessive use, and really go crazy with colors.
consider this a fair warning.

Well hell...
BLACK RED YELLOW PINK <---DON'T USE THIS. GREEN ORANGE PURPLE BLUE BEIGE BROWN TEAL NAVY MAROON LIME GREEN CADMIUM CARROT CHARTREUSE MALACHITE NEON BLUE WILD VIOLET BRIGHT PINK METALLIC GREEN BRONZE GOLD BROWN BLUE DRAGON GREEN DRAGON HEMATITE AMORITE
Except for the pink, all the colors available through the drop menu are fine. You can also, if you like, try your own colors. Just try them on preview to make sure they're readable. Then you just use the color tags with the hex code and it'll work.
